Car of the Day - Aston Martin Racing Vantage GT2

Aston Martin with the introduction of the Vantage GT2 in 2008 completed its model catalogue of factory prepared and developed GT race cars.

The new GT2 joined the DBR9 for GT1, DBRS9 for GT3 and the Vantage N24 for the GT4 class which meant a full coverage of every category of GT Racing. With a GT2 entrant Aston Martin had another series to take on Ferrari and Porsche.

Following on from 2007 DBRS9 which was successfully run on E85 bio-fuel, the Vantage GT was designed to run on either standard race fuel or E85 bio-ethanol. The green fuel being eligible for an increasing number of series, including the American Le Mans Series

The flexfuel-compatible Vantage GT2 is based on the V8 Vantage with its 4.2 litre V8. The presentation model finished in Gulf colors looked simply stunning while the all-black model in the track shots is menacing.

A future Part 2 of this COTD will cover the individual cars and race history.
